GREEN CLASSROOMS
Children spend more time indoors with iPads than amongst nature. Living in a highly urbanized environment, they are more alienated from nature than any generation before them.
At Gaia Conservation Foundation our aim is to instill a love for nature in Mumbai’s children by taking them on experiential tours of Sanjay Gandhi National Park.
SGNP is one of the world’s largest city forests with a rich diversity of flora and fauna – more than 1000 species of plants, 250 species of birds, 40 species of mammals, 150 species butterflies – making it a biodiversity hotspot and the ideal classroom for children.
Kids learn to respect nature and understand the role of wildlife and their habitats play in the ecosystem. They also learn about climate change and the importance of protecting our forests for a greener future.
Groups of up to 100 school children are led by wildlife experts, with extensive experience in conservation.
